Randy Brooks
Sergeant Brooks began his law enforcement career with the Wintergreen Police Department in 1982.
He left the Wintergreen Police Department in 1985 and spent the next decades serving the Commonwealth with other agencies to include the Waynesboro Police Department, Albemarle County Police Department, and the Department of Motor Vehicles Police Department, where he retired from in 2024. Sergeant Brooks then returned to where it all began just after retiring.
Sergeant Brooks holds a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Criminal Justice/Homeland Security from Liberty University. He also has also completed postgraduate studies at Liberty University and is a candidate for a Ph.D. in Criminal Justice.
Sergeant Brooks is certified in several specialized fields of instruction including Defensive Tactics and Driver Instructor and is currently the department’s Taser and Bola Wrap Instructor.
On January 19, 2026, Sergeant Brooks was appointed to his current rank and will be the Investigations Sergeant for the department.
